Seating in the orchestra was surprisingly comfortable and appropriate for all heights. Yes, I saw Dixie Dregs here several years ago and wouldn’t exactly call that music intimate, but it was a lot better than at a monstrous impersonal amphitheater like the Wang. It’s a nice and cozy spot to hear an intimate concert. There’s a lot of history here, with the old architecture and wood carvings, grand dome above the stage, and attractive ceiling designs. What helped make last night’s Julia Jacklin concert so successful was the venue, itself, Somerville Theater.
